Pretty Penny Earning Her Reputation

Ah, Pretty Penny. She didn’t get her name because she was affordable. No, she earned that title one breakdown, repair bill, and mild emotional crisis at a time. And this week? She’s showing off.

Enter: the entry steps. You know, the ones that let us gracefully enter and exit our house on wheels? Yeah, they’ve gone rogue. One minute they’re there, doing their job, and the next—they’re broken and basically demanding early retirement.

Naturally, this happened in scenic, remote Raton Pass, New Mexico, because that’s where all quality stair-related emergencies take place. We summoned a mobile RV tech to meet us in Royal Gorge, Colorado, during our two-night stay, because nothing says “relaxing getaway” like crawling under your motorhome while Googling replacement parts.

The tech, very kind, took one look and said:

“Hmm. I might be able to fix it. The part could take 7 to 10 days and cost somewhere between $6xx and $xxxx.”

Excellent. A bargain. Shall we throw in a tip?

Now, we’re heading to Colorado Springs, a mere 50 miles away—for just four nights—so unless UPS suddenly partners with NASA, we’re out of luck. Our current solution? A highly sophisticated system called “tie the stairs up with ratchets while driving and untie them when parked.” Truly, a masterpiece of RV repair.

It’s always something on The Adventures of Pretty Penny—where the views are stunning, the chaos is relentless, and the cat is definitely writing a tell-all.
